In my view, the camcorder deserves 4/5 stars. The HD represent quality outdoors (rain or shine) is PHENOMAL. I got a similar characterize in SD. It wasn't quite as intelligent as HD but peaceful an Pleasurable portray. The sound quality is fabulous. I had no spot with wind noise when outside on windy days. The camcorder itself is lightweight and I found the menus and buttons to be user-friendly. I read several negative reviews on the included Sony software but had no inconvenience installing it or using it. It does have tiny capabilities but it was sufficient for me. The camera itself does have a "divide" option for cutting video. You settle where you want to divide and it will fabricate and place a original clip. It also has helpful focus capabilities. It focuses very rapid when zooming in and out as well as inspiring left/right and up/down. I was overly impressed with its performance outdoors. Shooting indoors took me help a few steps and it could be that I seek information from too noteworthy in lower-light conditions. When the lights are on AND sufficient natural light is available through windows, the quality is REALLY valid. During evening/night hours and during the day when its cloudy outside, the relate left me disappointed. The represent was grainy and the more I zoomed, the grainier it got. I did adjust the exposure and white balance which helped the dwelling but peaceful left me wondering what I was doing inferior. I also played around with the different scene settings (sunrise, sunset, candlelight, etc...) but found the "auto" option to work the best. I would gladly welcome any suggestions or recommendations on helping the low-light state. It's the only disappointment I have and it could very well be the operator.

I purchased this camera a few months ago to film some necessary family events. When I got relieve, I watched the videos both using the mini-hdmi cable and also by putting the tubby size videos on a PS3 for native playback of AVCHD. In both cases, every so often, I would glimpse a slowdown in the framerate. It would rapid recover but it was definite that the hard disk could not support up with the data it was getting. I had the quality and size maxed out but that shouldn't matter. Calling Sony, they were very nice and offered to check it out but advised me to return it if I could. It might be my specific unit, or maybe a general product assert. I'm not positive.

As far as quality, I don't consider any of the cameras in this tag range can provide wonderful extreme light photography. What was nice was the NightShot which lets you buy video in total darkness. It also has 5.1 Surround Sound it captures. Battery life was obliging. It feels like a noble, solid, well built-camera. If it wasn't for my experience with the occasional monotonous frame rate, I would peaceful fill it.

I'm surprised that as of this writing there are so few reviews -- 3. Other canon HD cameras seem to have a ton more reviews.

I am well gay with the sony hd handy cam. I have only conventional it a few times and the describe quality is colossal. I have an older model sony sd handy cam and there is no comparsion. My only complaint is it is very hard to aim camera in intellectual sunshine you can not peek the reveal. Have same pickle with older model.
